Dim Sum

Usually Diane Kurilecz organizes Dim Sum (at China One, Mandarin Garden, or Hong Kong) for the first Sunday of the month. Some months she cancels or moves the date, if she'll be out of town.

She invites folks from RTSFS, Trinoc-coN, Triangle Singles, and various friends. It is not technically a RTSFS event. To quote Diane, "It's just that most of my local friends are on the list, and I love making opportunities to meet the rest!"

She collects names until Saturday and makes a reservation (if we have more than six people). She keeps track of anyone else who writes. She usually checks email sometime Sunday morning for stragglers, but if you decide late, it's best to call her (481-3934) between 9am and 11am (leave a message).

When the doors open, she's there (usually first in line after arriving about 10:45), and tells them if we have more (or fewer) people coming. Sometimes folks can't make it, or leave early, so feel free to call and see if there's room for more. We usually don't leave until past noon, but before 1pm.

It is best if folks arrive within 10-15 minutes, or tell her they'll be late (or won't be able to make it at all). The restaurant is amazingly busy, so they don't appreciate having empty seats. Usually after they fill up their seats at 11am, there are still people waiting. Those people have to wait about 45-60 minutes for the next available seating.

We order family-style and split the bill evenly. Anyone who orders off the menu, however, should ask for a separate bill when placing their order. The cost is generally $10-$12 per person.
